USD to CHF (sell signal issued on 21st November 2006, 1.24115).
January 19th
  • A buy signal is issued on US Dollar (buy price is 1.25, +0.71%). Be cautious with this forex signal (more info down here in news 2006)
January 31st
  • In order to constantly improve our model, we compared it with timingcube.com 2006 Nasdaq signals :

MyTrendTimer.com 2006 Nasdaq Signals Timingcube.com 2006 Nasdaq Signals
  Some observations :
  • Our model clearly outperformed timingcube.com during the 2006 summer sell off.
  • MyTrendtimer.com signal were issued later than those of timingcube.com
  • Trend Timing can be cruel and give some really wrong signals ("buy high and sell low")
  • We don't have the "cash signal" to act has a stop loss when timing is too bad.
  • Timingcube.com give the same signal for Nasdaq, Russell 2000 and the SP 500.
  • Buy and hold would have performed better than both models.
  • Trend Timing, trend following and quantitative analysis can't be 100% right...
February 1st
  • The year is barely a month old, but it already looks as if the stock market is headed for a fifth straight year of positive gains.

How can you tell? It's called the January barometer. Since 1950, the direction of stock prices in the first month of the year has done a good job predicting whether equities finish the year up or down, according to the Stock Trader's Almanac. In years when stocks lose value in January, equities tend to finish the year in the red. And the reverse is true: up in January, up for the year. Last year, for example, the Standard and Poor's 500 index rose 2.6 percent in January and finished the entire year up 15.8 percent. And this year, January was another solid month for stocks, with the SP 500 posting a 1.4 percent gain.

This measure isn't perfect. In 2005, for example, stocks were down 2.5 percent in January but eked out full-year gains of 4.9 percent. But the January barometer has about an 80 percent accuracy rate. And it's an even better gauge in years before presidential elections correctly predicting the direction of stock prices in 13 out of the past 14 pre-election years, the Stock Trader's Almanac says.
February 2nd
  • A buy signal is issued on Topix (buy price is 4233.92, -8.67%)
February 14th
  • MyTrendTimer 0.99.90.50 is out. A silly bug was corrected in the performance calculation of the model : the number of days used to annualized the return was wrongly computed when the postion was not long. This version also display the current quote (label is "Info : Current") below in the signal for easier comparison.
February 28th
  • A sell signal is issued on US Dollar (sell price is 1.2210, -2.30%). Be cautious with this forex signal (more info down here in news 2006)

  • Many indexes had their worst one-day performance since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, hurtling the Dow Jones industrial average down more than 400 points on worldwide concern that the U.S. and Chinese economies are stumbling and that share prices have become overinflated. No change in signals, at least for now.

April 24th

August 31st
  • A buy signal is issued on Nasdaq (buy price is 2596.36, +3.83%). The strong market rebound (due to Federal reserve surprise intervention and President Bush plan to address the subprime mortgage crisis) invalided sell signal issued just 3 days ago...
